Joining TMC ‘unconditional’, will take on any responsibility given to me by Mamata Banerjee: Sushmita Dev
“In my 30 years in politics, I haven’t demanded anything from the Congress high command,” Sushmita Dev said after joining TMC.
FollowSushmita Dev, who snubbed the Congress and joined the Trinamool Congress said on Tuesday that her joining the TMC is “unconditional”, and she will take any responsibility handed to her by West Bengal Chief Minister and party president Mamata Banerjee.
Former chief of the women’s wing of the Congress, Dev joined the TMC in the presence of party leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O’Brien in Kolkata on Monday.
I don’t think I have compromised my ideology in joining the TMC. My joining the TMC is unconditional, and I will take any responsibility given to me by Mamata Banerjee, Dev told reporters.
She added, in my 30 years in politics, I haven’t demanded anything from the Congress high command.
A former MP, Dev was the chief of the All India Mahila Congress and the national spokesperson of the grand old party.
Sushmita updated her Twitter bio which described her as a former member of the Congress before shooting her resignation letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
Though she had not mentioned any reason for her decision to leave the party, she had said, “I hope I have your good wishes as I begin a new chapter in my life of public service,” in her resignation letter.
