Indian Army pays tribute to 'heroes of Galwan' with 'Galwan Ke Veer' song
It highlights the valour of the Indian soldiers guarding the Galwan and says the "heroes" rose to the occasion when challenged on the mountains.
FollowThe Indian Army on Tuesday released a song in order to mark the first anniversary of the Galwan Valley clash. The song 'Galwan Ke Veer' pays tribute to the soldiers who valiantly fought with Chinese troops during the Galwan clash in the Ladakh region.
Noted singer Hariharan has lent his voice to the song titled 'Galwan ke Veer'. It highlights the valour of the Indian soldiers guarding the Galwan and says the "heroes" rose to the occasion when challenged on the mountains.
The nearly five-minute video song captures glimpses of the lives of the troops deployed in Ladakh, including their round-the-clock vigil, training and combat readiness to deal with any threat.
On the first anniversary of the deadly clashes, the Army said the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers will be "eternally etched" in the memory of the nation.
Taking to Twitter, the singer - Hariharan stated that he was a 'unique privilege and a sense of pride' that he was able to contribute to this song project. Hariharan also thanked the Indian Army for the project while he described how the song will leave a mark on him.
20 Indian soldiers had lost their lives during the clash and according to reports, China had lost 43. Earlier, Army chief General MM Naravane paid tribute to those Indian soldiers martyred during the clash with the People’s Liberation Army.
A year after the clash, the standoff is yet to be completely resolved.
Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar regiment, had led from the front against the Chinese aggression near Patrolling Point 14 in Galwan Valley.
In January, he was posthumously awarded Mahavir Chakra, the second-highest military award for acts of gallantry in the presence of the enemy.
The Army last year built a memorial for the 'Gallants of Galwan' at Post 120 in eastern Ladakh.
The memorial mentioned their heroics under operation 'Snow Leopard' and the way they evicted the PLA troops from the area while inflicting "heavy casualties" on them.
