India reports under 50,000 new Covid cases after 3 months

According to the Union health ministry, the active Covid-19 cases in the country have now come down to 6,62,521. India's total caseload is now at 2,99,77,861.

Continuing with the trend of declining Covid-19 cases, India on Tuesday reported 42,640 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This is the first time in three months that India has reported less than 50,000 cases.

According to the Union health ministry, the active Covid-19 cases in the country have now come down to 6,62,521. India's total caseload is now at 2,99,77,861.

The country also reported 1,167 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the overall toll up to 3,89,302.

Health Ministry data showed that 81,839 people were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. With this, the total discharges figure touched 2,89,26,038.

Meanwhile, the country administered a record 86,16,373 vaccine doses in a single day on Monday.
