Increase in murder cases and crimes, Bengaluru cops raid 1,000 rowdies' houses and Parappana Agrahara jail
Two murders in broad daylight and other crimes in the city led Bengaluru Police to crack a whip on anti-social elements. In an early morning exercise, the police raided about 1,000 rowdies' as well as Parappana Agrahara jail and seized banned items.
FollowTwo broad daylight murders in a span of 15 days and an increase in crimes as soon as the unlock of lockdown began, Bengaluru police raided over 1,000 rowdies' houses across Bengaluru and detained over hundreds of them to prevent further crimes.
The police based on the information that many such crimes like murder for rivalry are planned from jail, raided Parappana Agrahara early morning at 5 am.
While CCB under the direction of JCP Crime Sandeep Patil raided Parappana Agrahara jail and scanned each and every cell, division-wise police raided under the direction of respective DCPs across the city.
During a raid at jail the police were shocked to see banned items like ganja, chillum, cigarettes, daggers, blades, cash in possession from rowdies. An investigation is underway into how these items landed in jail.
While questioning of rowdies is still underway in other divisions, West Division Police completed raids at 105 houses, 76 anti-social elements were detained.
The Bengaluru Police raised an alert after the broad daylight murder of ex-BJP corporator Rekha Kadiresh two weeks ago. It was said to be a family rivalry over control of jurisdiction. Interestingly the murder was planned from jail.
Few days after this incident, the city witnessed another murder of a financer near a temple. The police meanwhile also reported many drugs and chain snatching cases and hence Police Commissioner Kamal Pant ordered all the Deputy Commissioners and CCB to contain the crime.
Following his orders, raids were conducted from early morning 5 am onwards.
