Income Tax raids on Dainik Bhaskar offices; Opposition says it is paying the price for exposing Modi govt

The Income Tax Department on Thursday conducted raids at offices of one of the largest newspaper groups in the country, Dainik Bhaskar.

Raids was underway at several offices of the group across the country. Among the properties raided included Dainik Bhaskar group MD Sudhir Agrawal house

Sources said that raids are being conducted in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Political link to Income Tax raids?

It wasn't long before the raids took a political colour with the Congress linking the Income Tax department action to a scathing piece by the publication on phone tapping and snooping two days ago. The report also referred to a past incident in Gujarat.

Another Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh said Dainik Bhaskar was paying the price for exposing through its reporting the Modi regime's monumental mismanagement of the Covid pandemic.
