'Fit case for sedition': IMA writes to PM Modi seeking action against Baba Ramdev

Lashing out at yoga guru Baba Ramdev, the IMA appealed to Prime Minister Modi to take action under the sedition charges against the Patanjali Ayurved co-founder over his statements questioning the efficacy of allopathy medicines and doctors.
The letter comes a day after Baba Ramdev took to Twitter to pose 25 questions to allopathy doctors and the pharma industry with regard to permanent treatment for various ailments like hypertension and type-1 and 2 diabetes.
Baba Ramdev had prior to that regretted his comments terming allopathy as 'stupid science' in a viral video.
On Tuesday, IMA served a defamation notice on Baba Ramdev for his alleged disparaging remarks against allopathy and allopathic doctors and sought an apology from him within 15 days, failing which he would be sued for Rs 1,000 crore.
In its letter on Wednesday, the Indian Medical Association said that it had been proactively spearheading the Prime Minister's commitment to enforcing vaccination to all above 18 years as the tool to overcome the corona pandemic.
The IMA noted that modern medicine professionals follow the guidelines and protocols issued by the Union Health Ministry through ICMR or the national task force for treating patients.

The IMA informed the Prime Minister said that the lives of 753 doctors were lost in the first wave while 513 sacrificed their lives fighting on the front line against the second wave of the pandemic.
Now deceitfully attributing that 10000 people have died in spite of two doses of vaccination is a deliberate move to stall the efforts of vaccination to reach our masses, and it needs to be curtailed immediately, the IMA said, urging the prime minister to book such persons under sedition immediately.
