IIT-Madras research scholar found dead; cops recover 11-page note

A research scholar, who worked as a project associate at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, has allegedly committed inside the campus.

The body of Unnikrishnan Nair, 30, was found by a group of hockey players practising at the campus ground.

According to the police, Unnikrishnan, a native of Ernakulam in Kerala, left behind an 11-page suicide note in which talked about stress at the workplace.

The suicide note was found at his home in Velacherry, Chennai.

IIT Madras issued a statement on the death of the temporary project staff in which the institute said it is fully cooperating with the police officials who are investigating the incident.

The statement further said that the project staff had joined the institute in April 2021 and had been living outside the campus.

The body shifted to Royapettah Government Hospital for autopsy. 

Police said they are awaiting the post-mortem report for further investigation.
