Jaipur: IAS officers Tina Dabi and Athar Khan, who had tied the knot in 2018, have filed for divorce with mutual consent in a family court in Jaipur.

Notably, Dabi had topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination in 2015, while Khan had secured the second position in the prestigious civil services exams the same year.

Tina Dabi and her husband Athar Aamir have requested the city family court to issue a divorce decree by presenting a joint application for divorce. The court will hear this application in the coming days.

In the application, both of them have said that they have been living apart for a long time. Also, now they do not want to continue their marriage further.

Their relationship which apparently started at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie and subsequent wedding grabbed the attention of the nation. Many people hailed their wedding as a symbol of communal harmony.

After getting married in Kashmir, the couple had hosted their wedding reception in Delhi which was attended by Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, former Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Both Dabi and Athar were allocated to the Rajasthan cadre of the IAS. Individually too, both of them represent heights of achievement as Tina Dabi was the first ever Dalit woman to top the UPSC examinations. Athar, who is a year older than Tina, is from restive South Kashmir.

Initially, both of them were in the same city, but Tina Dabi was later posted to Sri Ganganagar as Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad. Athar was posted to Jaipur as the CEO of Zila Parishad.

However, their marriage hit the rocks after Dabi had removed ‘Khan’ from her surname on social media sometimes back and Athar unfollowed her on Instagram.
