Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has come clean on a United Nations Human Rights Council fact-finding mission's claim that the government-owned aircraft maker was one of the major suppliers to the Myanmar military from 2017-2019.

Responding to the claim made by the UNHRC's Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar and Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute Arms Transfers Database, HAL on Wednesday clarified that it had no business dealings with the Myanmar Defence Forces during the period mentioned.

"The report has appeared in a section of media. It is factually incorrect. HAL has had no business dealings with Myanmar Defence Forces from 2017-2019," HAL PRO Gopal Sutar said in a statement.

In fact, HAL did not have any business dealing even after 2019 with Myanmar to date, he added.

As per the reports, since February 1 -- the day when Myanmar's elected democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi was overthrown in a coup -- over 500 people have been killed.

The global community has condemned the Myanmar military for their acts against the movement for restoration of democracy in the country.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has called for a united global front to put pressure on the military regime in Myanmar. The US has suspended the trade deal with Myanmar.
