Government marks India’s big billion jabs milestone with largest Khadi tricolour displayed at Red Fort

The tricolour hoisted in Leh to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 has been used at the Red Fort to mark the milestone of administering one billion, or 100 crore, doses of vaccines against coronavirus. Also, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a song by singer Kailash Kher and an audio-visual film at the Red Fort.

To mark the big billion jabs milestone of administering 100 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, the largest khadi tricolour in the country, weighing around 1,400 kg, was displayed at the Red Fort on Thursday.

The Monumental National Flag, which is the world's largest National Flag made of Khadi fabric, has been conceptualised and prepared by Khadi and Village Industries Commission has been installed at the Red Fort, New Delhi, as India marked its 100-crore vaccination milestone.

To mark the milestone on the Covid-19 vaccination exercise, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a song by singer Kailash Kher and an audio-visual film at the Red Fort. “The country is close to making a vaccine century. To be a part of this golden opportunity, I appeal to the citizens who are yet to be vaccinated to contribute to this historic golden vaccination journey of India by getting vaccinated immediately,” he said earlier in a tweet in Hindi.

“India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians. Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this feat,” PM Modi tweeted.

The Centre also informed that villages that have completed 100 per cent vaccination should mark the achievement by putting up posters and banners complimenting health workers for the same.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet will unveil a special livery at the Delhi airport to celebrate the 100-crore vaccine milestone on Thursday.

The health minister, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh will be present on the occasion.
