New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers have made elaborate arrangements to make the day historic as Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 71 on Friday.

PM Modi is completing two decades holding public office, including his stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The saffron party aims to create a record of maximum inoculations against Covid-19 through a mega 20-day public outreach programme. It will begin from Friday and will continue till October 7.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Manadviya made an appeal for vaccinations in a tweet. "Let's do #VaccineSeva and give him (PM Modi) birthday gift by getting vaccinated those who have not taken the dose so far," he said.

Under the programme, the party has asked its workers across the country to launch 20-day ‘Seva or Samarpan Abhiyan (service and commitment)’ from today to October 7 and distribute 140 million ration bags with Modi’s pictures among the needy.

With women leaders playing a key role, health camps will be held in districts while food will be distributed under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana’.

A massive cleanliness campaign will be held and a public message will be sent out, encouraging the use of Khadi and local products on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2.

Also, children who have been orphaned due to Covid will be registered by the BJP workers so that they can get benefits from the PM-CARES fund.
