Bringing curtains down on the issue of change in leadership in Karnataka and CM inviting MLAs to tender his resignation on 'health grounds', Karnataka BJP vice president and son of CM BS Yediyurappa, BY Vijayendra junked the reports in just two sentences.

In response to Asianet Newsable, BY Vijayendra said, “The MLAs are being invited on July 25 as CM will complete 2 years in office."

However, the decision on the venue to assemble is yet to be taken.

Earlier, another leader on condition of anonymity stated that soon after CM Yediyurappa met central leaders in Delhi on Saturday, some sections planted this rumour.

"Central leaders including PM Narendra Modi say that there is no other mass leader in BJP who could do justice for the role as CM and hence he is being allowed to continue despite ageing. Any attempt to replace will destabilize BJP and the party would suffer a body blow in the 2023 Assembly elections," said a senior  BJP leader.

Yesterday's meeting with Central leaders was the first time in three months as the Covid situation forced the CM to stay back in Karnataka and send leaders to represent him in Delhi.

Yediyurappa who met PM Modi, Home Minister and other central leaders is said to have placed the Mekedatu issue before them as TN has raised objection to scrap the proposed project despite assurance of continuous flow and supply of TN share of water as per the tribunal's order.
