Delhi government to vaccinate and bear cost of mass vaccination drive for all media houses
The Delhi Government will reportedly bear the cost of the Covid-19 vaccine and organise the drive at their offices.
FollowNew Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi on Friday announced that a mass Covid-19 vaccination drive will be held for all the media houses, including electronic, print and digital media in the wake of the rising coronavirus cases and has offered to vaccinate all journalists for free.
The announcement came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called a meeting today at 4:30 pm with his cabinet ministers to discuss the Covid-19 crisis in the national capital that has led to thousands of deaths in the past few weeks.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Health Minister, Health Secretary and District Magistrates of all districts attended the meeting.
Arvind Kejriwal directed all the officers to ensure that there should be no shortage of beds. He also said that no lives should be lost due to oxygen shortage and that the COVID-19 vaccination drive should be completed in three months.
He has directed the district magistrates to inspect 2-3 vaccination centres for inspection on a daily basis. They have also been instructed to conduct surprise visits at COVID relief camps and old age homes.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced to provide free Covid-19 vaccines to journalists. Following the footsteps of several other states like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Odisha and others had declared journalists as frontline warriors and decided to give them priority in their respective vaccination drive.
Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 19,832 fresh Covid-19 cases and 341 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Delhi government’s health bulletin on Friday.
As many as 79,593 tests including 65,663 RT-PCR/CBNAAT/True NAT tests and 13,930 rapid antigen tests were conducted during this period. The national capital recorded a positivity rate of 24.92 per cent and the case fatality rate now stands at 1.45%.
