Delhi schools closed till further orders amid rise in COVID cases

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced that all schools will be closed in the national capital till further orders, amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.

कोरोना के बढ़ते संक्रमण को रोकने के लिए मार्च महीने में पूरे देश में लॉकडाउन लगाया गया था। जो जून महीने तक चला। 30 जून को अनलॉक 1 के तहत कोरोना संकट के कारण लगाए गए लॉकडाउन में ढील दी गई थी, इसमें आर्थिक प्रतिबंधों को खोला गया। इसके बाद एक जुलाई से अनलॉक-2 शुरू हुआ। जो 31 जुलाई को खत्म होने जा रहा है।

Delhi - like other major cities - has seen a massive spike in coronavirus cases over the past few weeks, and the daily case count breached the 7,000-mark for the first time this year.

On Thursday, the national capital witnessed its highest single-day spike this year after 7,437 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is among those who have demanded that the vaccination drive be opened to other age groups.
