Defence Parliamentary panel wants to visit Galwan and Pangong

Members of the parliamentary panel on defence has proposed to visit India-China violent faceoff site Galwan Valley and Pangong Tso in the eastern Ladakh. 

Two members of the panel confirmed to Asianet Newsable, "In our meeting, we have put forward our proposal to visit Galwan and Pangong areas. The Chairman has to take a call."

BJP MP from Odisha Jual Oran is heading the panel, in which senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party Supremo Sharad Pawar are the members. 

They also added that the proposal is subject to approval from the government.

Troops of India and China were locked-in border standoff for over nine months at multiple locations in the eastern Ladakh. However, the two countries have mutually agreed to disengage from two locations, including north and south of Pangong Tso areas.

In south Pangong Tso, the troops of the two countries were in an eyeball-to-eyeball situation. 

In north Pangong Tso, the Chinese have to pull back its troops to the east of Finger 8 areas while the Indian personnel will be based at their permanent base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3.

However, patrolling has been suspended temporarily. It would be resumed only after two sides mutually build a consensus on it. 

Once the disengagement process completed, the two sides would initiate talks on Depsang, Hot Springs and Gogra.
