COVID scare in Bengaluru BSF campus: 49 more soldiers test positive for coronavirus

In Border Security Force campus in Bengaluru outskirts which witnessed a covid blast after 34 soldiers tested positive for Covid-19 infection, now, reported 49 more positive cases. The total count has now reached 83. 800 soldiers from various states had come for training in the BSF campus a few days ago.

The Covid-19 infection among soldiers has now caused major concern in Karahalli Border Security Force campus in Bengaluru outskirts as 49 more soldiers have tested positive.

The campus that is training 800 soldiers from various states, two days ago reported 34 soldiers from Meghalaya testing positive following which 95 jawans who had come in contact were put under quarantine and samples were collected.

As per information out 83 infected jawans, 48 have been admitted at Devanahalli Taluk Government Hospital and are being monitored. While 21 soldiers were admitted at Akash Hospital in the city outskirts, 14 soldiers were placed under isolation in the campus premises itself.

According to reports, on September 15, 150 soldiers from Shillong in Meghalaya arrived for special training on physical as well as mental strength. And as per protocol when all were subjected to RT-PCR test, the first 34 tested positive and were isolated treatment was given.

Immediately all the 800 soldiers in the campus were then subjected for the RT-PCR test out of which now, 49 more soldiers test results showed positive.

Their health conditions are being closely monitored and the entire campus was sanitised from further spread.

According to data from the state health and family welfare department, 23 new cases of Covid and 153 active cases were reported from the Bengaluru Rural district on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Karnataka reported 847 news cases and registered 20 Covid-91 deaths.
