Amidst lockdown, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa ordered that all existing project works will not be affected, ensuring smooth functioning. In this regard, the CM inspected the new extended Metro route that will cover six stops at 7.53 km. But the interesting thing to note here is the Covid protocol which is essential to blunt the virus was violated right before the CM.

The CM seated in the first coach monitored and inspected every stop. The new route will cover Nayandahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnana Bharathi, Pattangere, Kengeri Satellite Bus Terminal and Kengeri.

As soon as the CM along with Minister V Somanna, R Ashoka and MLA Munirathna Naidu boarded the metro, the media also pounced on one another to get the best of visuals as well as images, however, even the media failed to follow the necessary Covid rule of social distancing.

In the image it can be seen that in one of the coaches, CM is flanked by Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on one side and Housing Minister V Somanna on the other side. Although they were wearing masks, no social distancing was maintained. Ā

When will the route get operational?

The existing Purple line that now operates from Byappanahalli to Mysuru Road and with inspection and a railway safety report on the same, the government will officially start from July and the public can hop on to Metro right from Biyappanahalli and reach Kengeri at Rs 60 one way trip.

Once this route becomes operational, the BMRCL expects that this segment of Mysuru Road to Kengeri alone will touch about 75,000 ridership a day.

NOTE: Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitize, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible. Together we can and will break the chain #ANCares #IndiaFightsCoronaĀ
