BS Yediyurappa at helm in Ktaka BJP: Leaders lobby for ministerial posts, CM Bommai rushes for consultation
With Karnataka Cabinet expansion expected to take place in the coming week, over half a dozen ministerial aspirants lined up at Lingayat strongman BS Yediyurappa's house for lobbying. Within minutes, CM Basavaraj Bommai also rushed and downplayed the importance, saying that his visit was just to 'consult' his senior.
FollowAs Karnataka Cabinet expansion is yet to take place, former ministers in BS Yediyurappa Cabinet and other MLAs aspiring to become ministers in the current CM Basavaraj Bommai Cabinet are lobbying for ministerial berths.
Interestingly, over half a dozen leaders lined up at former CM BS Yediyurappa's residence 'Krishna' to influence CM Bommai and the high command's decision.
Umesh Katti, V Somanna, Ashwath Narayana, migrant leaders in BJP -- BC Patil, Shivaram Hebbar, ST Somashekar and Byrathi Basavaraj who served as ministers under Yediyurappa's leadership are lobbying for ministerial berths.
Similarly, MLAs MP Renukacharya, Munirathna Naidu, R Shankar and others from North Karnataka belt were seen camping at Yediyurappa's residence for the same reason.
It is said that Muniathna met Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra and has convinced the former CM for recommending his name for a minister post as promised by them in 2019 when he deserted the Congress.
The development has served an opportunity for the Opposition which had dubbed Bommai as the rubber stamp of Yediyurappa.
Meanwhile, CM Bommai also arrived at Yediyurappa's residence and told reporters that he had come to consult Yediyurappa and said that he is expecting a message from central high command about Cabinet expansion in a day or two.
Bommai had said that he will not be a rubber stamp after taking charge as CM a few days ago.
