Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announces a relaxation in Covid-19 restrictions in the state for the next one week, from June 16 to June 22.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday, announced a relaxation in Covid-19 restrictions in the state for the next one week, from June 16 to 22.
The government and private offices have now been allowed to function till 5 pm. Shops will remain open till 6 pm. Night curfew will be in place from 8 pm to 5 am, the latest orders said.
"The status of corona infection was reviewed. For the next 1 week i.e. from 16.06.21 to 22.06.21, now the government and non-government offices will remain open till 5 pm, shops and establishments will remain open till 6 pm. Night curfew will be in force from 8 pm to 5 am," Nitish Kumar tweeted in Hindi.
A complete lockdown was imposed on May 5 after the state witnessed a surge in Covid infections.
This relaxation comes after the Covid-19 situation in the state showed further signs of improvement on June 14 when the recovery rate crossed 98% and the number of fresh cases slumped below 400.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, Bihar has over 5,300 active Covid-19 cases while 7.02 lakh patients have recovered from the infection. On the other hand, the death toll in Bihar stands at over 9,400, it noted.
According to the data shared by the state health department, 1.22 crore of over 13 crore population of the state, have been vaccinated to date.
India saw a single-day rise of 60,471 new coronavirus infections, the lowest after 75 days, taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 2,95,70,881, while the daily positivity rate declined to 3.45%, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
