Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has identified 760 Covid-19 vaccination sites to inoculate 150,000 healthcare workers who have registered on the Co-Win portal and the city administration hopes to complete the immunisation of health personnel in a week.

According to a report on Economic Times, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad was quoted saying On January 16, the inaugural day of the vaccination drive, about 600 healthcare workers will be immunised at six sites and the full-fledged vaccination drive at all centres will begin from January 18.

Nearly one-fourth of the total healthcare workers who have registered for immunisation in Karnataka are from BBMP limits. The city has received 105,000 doses of vaccine so far, including Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, and is anticipating a larger share, required to inoculate 150,000 workers.

Meanwhile, as many as 1.05 lakh Covishield vaccine doses have been stored in Dasappa Hospital in Central Bengaluru and will be administered to health workers from six centres in the city, Manjunatha Prasad said after inspecting stocks at the hospital.

The centres which will start administering the vaccine are: KC General Hospital, Victoria Hospital, CV Raman General Hospital, Jayanagar General Hospital, St John’s Medical College and Mallasandra Primary Health Centre in North Bengaluru. The vaccine will be given between 9 am and 5 pm on January 16.

“The vaccine will be given to 100 people in each centre on that day and all those who are getting the first shot will be informed via SMS or phone call,” Prasad said.
