The alleged bed-blocking case in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike saw another two persons in the Central Crime Branch net taking the total arrest to 8 so far.

Out of two accused Varun and Santosh, the former was working with South Zone War Room in the helpline section.

Based on the distress calls he selected a few desperate callers to contact and shared the same with his associate Santosh who used to call and block the bed in a private hospital for a cut.

The police are yet to establish any link with other accused in this connection and have subjected them to intensive grilling.

The arrest comes a day after Bommanahalli MLA Satish Reddy's aide Babu was arrested following CCTV footage evidence and war room staff's statements.

Babu allegedly arm-twisted the staff and blocked the beds at a private hospital. However, the irony is that the MLA and the area MP had barged into South Zone War and cornered the Nodal Officer and questioned why a particular community was hired.

On May 4, MP Tejasvi Surya along with MLAs raided the BBMP war room and took out 17 names of members belonging to a particular community.

Soon Whatsapp messages went viral accusing this community of indulging in the bed-blocking scam.

Two days later, a regional paper carried a report accusing BJP MLA Satish Reddy and his supporters' involvement in bed blocking.

The matter took a communal twist and the BBMP came under pressure to reinstate the suspended staff as none of them whose names the MP took were involved in the scam.
