Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, MLAs Satish Reddy, Uday Garudachar and Ravi Subramanya are under fire after the alleged BBMP hospital bed booking scam took a communal twist. Following which a complaint has been registered against them.

As per S Balan, High Court advocate who filed the petition says, Surya along with BJP MLAs who barged into Covid war room and confronted clueless nodal officer Tulasi Madineni and war room staff.

A complaint under section 153A, for promoting enmity between groups, race, religion and section 295A deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage any class by insulting its religion have been filed. This apart, sections under Disaster Management Act and Karnataka Epidemic Disease Ordinance Act have been filed.

In a video, while Surya flashed some documents claiming they were involved in bed blocking leading to inconvenience to others, his uncle and MLA Ravi Subramanya can be heard saying 'Are you hiring for Madarasa or for Corporation' and Satish Reddy saying is this Haj Bhavan has gone viral.

Surya also took names of only Muslim men from the list which has over 200 names of others working in different sections of Covid war room.

Within minutes, WhatsApp messages with these names, referring to them as terrorists were circulated. The Whatsapp message also involved the name of IAS officer Sarfaraz Khan who was nowhere connected to the South Zone Covid war room.

Soon the social media started to raise red flag to this bed booking scam and accusing the MP and his team of communalising the issue.

"On May 4th MP and MLAs barged into Covid war room in violation of Disaster Management Act. Only authorised people should get in. These people went and threatened the staff. Only singled out 17 Muslim men hired on contract out of 205 members. Almost all were recruited recently. Now it appears they want to communalise the whole issue and hide the government's failure. The men were called 'terrorists' and one MLA questioned whether it is a Madrasa or corporation, thereby their intention is very clear. These 17 men are Covid warriors, risk their lives, attend hundreds of calls, now the whole scenario indicates communal hatred. Following day, Minister Eshwarappa also attributed the same to Muslims and said some Muslim organizations are blocking beds causing inconvenience to Hindus. Hence a petition was filed before Majistrate," said S Balan.

Balan representing Varada Rajendra also said these men were sent to police station without much inquiry and were caused mental harassment and damage to their reputation. Each one should now claim Rs 25 lakhs for the damage as they have been defamed.
