Two days after IAS officer and former Mysuru deputy commissioner Rohini Sindhuri was transferred and replaced with another 2009 batch officer Bagadi Gautham, the woman officer said that allegations of her flaunting rules to construct Rs 28.72 lakh worth swimming pool at her residence was construction demo before replicating the same via Nimrit Kendra in the district.

Recently Mysuru MP Pratap Simha has alleged Rohini Sindhuri of flaunting rules and had sought Covid expenses details under her administratorship and also accused her of spending Rs 28.72 lakh to construct an indoor gym and swimming pool.

The IAS officer held a counter-press conference and released all the expenses details of Rs 36 crores in establishing Covid Care Centers, buying medicines, salaries to staff engaged in Covid duty and for the Covid testing purpose.

Now after she her transfer to the allegations on swimming pool and indoor gym, the officer is said to have clarified to the Regional Commissioner who is probing the allegation that, she reportedly stated that the execution of the pool at the residence of DC was done by Nirmiti Kendra in January 2021 out of its own funds of Rs 28.72 lakh in order to prove cost-effective technology and as a demo work.

The project was done due to space constraints in Nirmithi Kendra campus. And only a small piece of space was utilised in the campus of DC’s residence Jala Sannidhi on 5.15-acre campus.

The idea was to see how effective this project would be before replicating the same in taluks and the rest of the district.

What is Nirmithi Kendra?

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj's Nirmithi Kendras are set up at each district to take up construction of office buildings and infrastructure and the contract is awarded by the officials at the Nirmithi Kendra for the same purpose and these Kendra will function under the DC of each district.

Nimrithi Kendras have to use locally available resources and adopt cost-effective technology for the construction of offices and to put up new infrastructure in government buildings.

Sindhuri thanks people of Mysuru

The official thanking the people of Mysuru was quoted saying," At such tough times, I worked beyond my capacity and served the district. You allowed me to serve you. Thank you."

Case in a nutshell

On June 3, Mysuru City Commissioner Shilpa Nag alleging harassment from Rohini Sindhuri resigned from the IAS post and went public about her decision and also her equations with Sindhuri.

Next day, Sindhuri condemned Nag's move and told reporters that she should not have gone to the media. Nag accused Sindhuri of sending notices to her and was targeting her for controlling Covid in Mysuru City Corporation.

Meanwhile, Rohini has stated that all she did was as per rules and had sought details of Rs 12 crores CSR fund given to MCC.

As the unhealthy development was widely being debated in the state and also nationally, Suttur seer, minister ST Somashekhar intervened and convinced Nag to take back her resignation. On Saturday, the government of Karnataka sent an order shunting both women officers out from Mysuru.

While Rohini Sindhuri has been transferred as Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department, Shilpa Nag has been transferred to Panchayat Raj Department and will be serving as Director E-Governance Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department, Bangalore.

In place of Rohini Sindhuri, now another 2009 batch IAS officer, Bagadi Gautham, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax, Bengaluru has taken over as Mysuru Deputy Commissioner.

While 2015 batch officer G Lakshmikant Reddy, MD Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited has been given the post of Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner until further orders from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.
