Ayodhya's Ram Mandir to get stone from Sita temple in Sri Lanka
The stone from Sita Eliya will celebrate multiple commonalities between the nations and also encourage more exchanges between the people of the two countries, the Indian high commission said.
FollowA stone from Sita Eliya, which is believed to be the place where goddess Sita was held captive by the demon king Ravana as per Hindu scripture Ramayana', will be paced in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The stone, which was received at the Mayurapathi Amman Temple in Colombo by the high commissioner-designate of Sri Lanka to India Milinda Moragoda, will be a pillar of strength for India-Sri Lanka ties, the Indian high commission said in a Twitter post.

Sita Eliya in the Central Province of Sri Lanka has a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita. It is believed that Goddess Sita used to regularly pray at this spot to Lord Rama to rescue her from the demon king Ravana.

The construction of the Ram Temple is in full swing. In December last year, soil tests were conducted. The excavation work began in the first week of January during which the debris was removed.
The work on the temple foundation began on March 16.
