Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to bat for two-child policy among 150 Muslim scholars
Assam CM who recently announced about limiting to state benefits to families with only two children among the Muslim community and other minorities will meet about 150 scholars to seek their opinion.

The CM had recently said that the new bill will be passed in the monsoon session and will incorporate it slowly. The CM had recently met some of the members from All Assam Minority Students regarding the same.
"Now if they (outside people) don't understand the seriousness of the situation, they create controversy merely because the BJP CM has said this. This can't be a controversy. People should welcome if somebody is trying to eradicate poverty and illiteracy among minority people," Sarma was quoted as per media reports.
Once the bill is passed and it becomes a law, from loan waiver to other govt schemes, the two child-policy will be used as a yardstick to give away such benefits to the public.
The policy, however, will have an impact on tea garden workers/SC-ST community as CM has kept these segments out from the proposed policy.
Proposed policy inspires Uttar Pradesh too
As the subject is concerning minorities and their population, the Law Commission of UP also began drafting a version of a population control bill. The commission as per reports will submit its report to the CM Yogi Adithyanath in 60 days time.
