Ambani bomb scare: Mumbai Police suspends officer Sachin Vaze after arrest
The officer has been placed under suspension by the Special Branch ACP following his arrest in connection with the NIA's probe into the recovery of a Scorpio containing 20 gelatin sticks near Ambani's house 'Antilia' on February 25.
Two days after he was arrested by the National Investigation Agency for his alleged involvement in the recovery of explosives from a car near Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai, police officer Sachin Vaze has been suspended from service.
The officer has been placed under suspension by the Special Branch ACP following his arrest in connection with the NIA's probe into the recovery of a Scorpio containing 20 gelatin sticks near Ambani's house 'Antilia' on February 25.
The 1990-batch officer of the Maharashtra cadre has been charged under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, and the Explosive Substances Act. He is in NIA custody till March 25. Â Â
The officer is also accused of having a role in the death of businessman Mansukh Hiran who owned the Scorpio from which the explosives were recovered. Hiran's corpse was fished out of Thane creek on March 5.
Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar met Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance partner and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at the latter's official residence. Sources said the Sachin Vaze issue came up for discussion during the meeting.
