Despite IAS Rohini Sindhuri getting a clean chit in the Chamarajanagar incident in which 24 people died on May 2 and 3 by a High Court-appointed committee involving retired High Court judge, now an audio of her allegedly threatening the drug controller with dismissal has gone viral.

The officer allegedly is warning Assistant Drug Controller Arun Kumar for oxygen cylinders going to Chamarajanagar.

In the audio Sindhuri is reportedly heard telling the deputy drug controller, “Arun, DC speaking. Shall I recommend your dismissal? Why is it (oxygen) going to Chamarajanagar again? Southern Gas people claim there is no oxygen to refill for Mysuru. I want the plant with 10,000 litres capacity to be filled by night. Come to the office by 11 with all the details. Why such a quantum of oxygen is going (to Chamarajanagar). Get indent from all the hospitals and details about oxygen requirements for 34 hospitals for another two days.” a report referring to an audio clip quoted Rohini Sindhuri as saying.

In reply the Drug Controller is heard saying “There is no oxygen in hospitals or for the Covid patients in Chamarajanagar. We are supplying oxygen only to government hospitals.”

The Drug Controller to ensure supply of oxygen to Chamarajanagar is also heard discussing with oxygen suppliers to which the receiver is asking for Deputy Commissioner's permission.

In another audio, the drug controller is heard pleading with oxygen supplier Southern Gas Agencies saying he is ready to fall at his feet saying 20 lives are at stake at Chamarajanagar and the district needs 50 oxygen cylinders by 6 am.

The alleged audio is said to be the conversion between April 20 to May 2.

As Mysuru district sends oxygen from the refilling plant to Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar, DC's based on official communication were taking and returning Oxygen in case the respective district falls short. It is said Mysuru District Administration was only ensuring the safety and life of residents from its region and was not taking share of the oxygen of any other district.

Between April 29 to May 2, Mandya DC is said to have received oxygen from Sindhuri only on the promise of returning the same amount of oxygen within 24 hours as even Mysuru was facing a similar situation. But in the case of Chamarajanagar, there was no such communication.

A High Court-appointed committee gave a clean chit to Sindhuri in the Chamarajanagar incident.

Earlier, the High Court appointed committee headed by retired Justice AN Venugopala Gowda and Justice KN Keshavanarayana, former Justice Karnataka HC, and ST Ramesh, former DG and IGP as members gav a clean chit to Sindhuri Ain this connection and has held Chamarajanagar DC MR Ravi responsible for the incident. The committee has pointed out that, "As a Chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee, he (MR Ravi) miserably failed to guide and supervise the crisis situation arising out of extreme demand for oxygen," the report stated.
