Here's what Government has decided to stop spreading fake news about COVID-19
Since the second wave of COVID-19 has hit us, there have been many fake news and misinformation surfacing over social media platforms.
FollowGovernment sent an advisory note to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp to 'initiate awareness campaigns' so that no misinformation or fake news gets circulated. Misinformation can create panic and disturbance among the public.
The social media platforms have been asked to take immediate actions to disable or remove any fake news or give 'warnings' to imposters who will spread the misinformation.
According to ET's report, "They (social media platforms) must inform their users not to host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, update or share any information that may affect public order and unlawful in any way."
Each day there's a rise in COVID-19 cases spreading more panic among the people. Twitter said they review each post, and if they find anything misleading or violating their rules, they remove it immediately. Though Facebook and Instagram haven't responded yet.
A lot of social media platforms are playing a very important role in giving authentic information to their users about COVID-19 vaccination and news.
