Facebook Hello button and all the drama around it

Facebook is known to test new features, and these may or may not make it to all users. Currently, it is rolling out the new 'Hello button' feature in the trial phase.

Facebook is known to have rolled it out silently for some users in the UK and it has already begun facing public ire (via Dailymail).

The Hello button is meant to get someone's attention by sending them a virtual wave. You can think of something similar to poke. The problem is the placement of the button, which is right next to 'Add Friend'. This has caused many to accidentally click on the 'Hello' button.

Needless to say, it would cause awkward moment especially when checking out your ex or someone who is not in your friends list. There is the option to undo it by tapping the button again.

This feature is still in the testing phase, and it is unclear whether it will be released to all. It is known that Facebook adds timely tweaks and keeps testing new features, but only some make it users worldwide.
