DMK member Masilamani raised issues on the unavailability of medicines for dengue and other ailments.  Health minister Vijayabhaskar said that he is ready to inspect if the opposition DMK insists so. To this, the deputy speaker joked whether he is willing to join the DMK.

During the debate on subsidy demands for the Health Department, DMK member Masilamani asked about the dengue issues. Right when Vijayabaskar has been giving an answer to him, he was interrupted by Durai Murugan.

He said, “Like Siddhars in the ancient times you have been hiding the medicines. You should make sure that all the medicines are made available in all the medical shops. Medicines for snake bite should be available in all places. During the last session, the minister said that the medicines are available in all the medical shops but, when I enquired in certain medical shops they said they don’t have. Come, let us go and find out from the medical shops right now.”

In reply to that, Vijayabaskar said, “Medicines are made available in all the medical shops. 1 lakh stock of snake bite medicines will serve for the next five months. 1.28 lakh stocks of dog bite medicines will serve for the next two months. Yes, I am willing to go if the opposition deputy leader asks me to.”

To which, Pollachi Jayaraman (Deputy Speaker) said, “Did you mean that you are willing to go to DMK?”

Members in the Assembly burst out laughing at his joke.

When the Assembly calmed down after the joke, Vijayabaskar explained to the Speaker that he meant to go the medical shop with Durai Murugan not to DMK.
