Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Prem Anand Sinha has announced that the people can register their complaints on traffic congestion on Twitter. He has also assured that an immediate action would be taken.

He said, “We are taking many steps to avoid traffic congestion in South Chennai. Most of the areas in South Chennai, especially Kotturpuram and Adyar witness more traffic congestion. During peak hours, I myself would go to those areas and control traffic. "

A Twitter account named ‘Chennai Traffic Alert’ has been created. People can register complaints in that account for an immediate response and action.

To monitor the complaints, some employees have been exclusively appointed in my office. We get as many as 1,000 complaints everyday.

We are also working on an initiative to create a WhatsApp group. It will soon come into effect. Due to the impact of Vardah cyclone, 113 signals in Chennai have been damaged. It is being repaired under the war-time-measures. As a part of metro rail service, a one-way path is being explored from Kilpauk EGA theatre to Nehru Park and also in Chetpet Ramanathan Road and Mechanical road. 

In a week, the one-way path would be converted as a two-way road in these areas. The road encroachments are also being cleared.
