TN has maximum number of industries as compared to other states: RBI

  • Tamil Nadu has 16 percent of total mills in India.

TN has maximum number of industries

According to the statistical report of Reserve Bank of India, Tamil Nadu is said to have more number of industries than any other states in India.

As per the statistical report:

Tamil Nadu has 16 percent of total mills in India.

States such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh take the next subsequent places in having more mills after Tamil Nadu.

Though Tamil Nadu owns more number of industries, it is Gujarat that stands first in investments and providing employment. It stands first in providing employment for the 12th successive year.

After Gujarat, Maharashtra stands second in the list. 

It was reported that the new industries were set up in these five states during the economic crisis in the year 2008-2009.

In terms of Industrial growth Maharashtra shows 35 percent growth with 43 points.

Gujarat shows 5 percent growth with 37 points.

Tamil Nadu shows 37 percent growth with 37 points.

Small scale industries:

According to the statistical data for the year 2006-2007, Uttar Pradesh stands first in having more number of small scale industries. It has 44 lakhs of small scale industries. 

West Bangal has 34 lakh and 64 thousand small scale industries.

Maharashtra has 30 lakh and 60 thousand small scale industries.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has 33 lakh and 13 thousand small scale industries.
