Puducherry: Kiran Bedi heckled by parents and students for allowing NEET medical counselling

Today, July 24, 2017, the medical counselling based on NEET was held for the second day in Puducherry’s CENTAC centre.

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, who was conducting an inspection during the event, was surrounded by the parents and students who demanded an explanation for conducting the medical counselling without giving priority to students from state board curricula. 

But she left the place without giving a proper answer. 

Last month, after one such inspection, Kiran Bedi ruffled feathers as she alleged that there was corruption in the counselling held for post graduation studies in medical stream. 

Following this complaint, a team of CBI officials raided the office of CENTAC. 

Later, the High Court assured that the medical counselling was held as per the instructions of the central government.

This incident intensified the conflict between Kiran Bedi and the cabinet. 

Meanwhile, today, she again held an inspection in CENTAC where the medical counselling is being organised for the second day based on NEET. 

As she came out of the premises, the parents and students surrounded her and threw a volley of questions at her.

They demanded an explanation for conducting the medical counselling when Tamil Nadu government withheld it in favour of students from state board curricula. 

In reply to this, she said that Tamil Nadu is a different state and she could not do anything this year. 

Her statement caused a furore in the premise. So she left the place immediately.
