Won't let people suffer for GST: Palaniswamy

  • Tamil Nadu Hindu religious and charitable endowments minister said that the government will not tolerate any plan that goes against the interest of the people.
  • He said that he would soon convey the concerns of industries regarding the GST to the central government.
  • Pharmacists have also raised protest against the GST because price of medicines is likely to go up.

Hindu religious and charitable endowments minister of Tamil Nadu- Sevvoor S. Ramachandran, along with CM Palaniswamy had visited Arani for a family wedding. On his way, in Kanchipuram he was welcomed by the collector P.Ponnaya with a flower bouquet.

After this, Palaniswamy met reporters and said, “GST tax will not affect the people. However, I will convey the concerns of the industries to the central government. Tamil Nadu government will never accept any plans that would affect the people.”

Sub-Collector Arunthamburaj, Kanchipuram AIADMK secretary Walajabad Ganesan and MP Maragatham Kumaravel also participated in the welcoming event.

It should be noted that the pharmacists association claimed that the GST will increase the cost of medicines by four percent and urged the state government to ensure that the rates are brought down immediately.
