Madras High Court rules out reservation for state board students for medical seats

Health Minister C Vijayabaskar has said that his government would appeal against the Madras High Court’s decision to reject the Tamil Nadu government’s order to reserve 85% MBBS and BDS seats in undergraduate colleges for the state board students.

Earlier, the state government passed an order stating that 85% of the MBBS and BDS seats are reserved for the state board students, and only 15 % will be reserved for the CBSE and other boards. Opposing this, CBSE students filed a petition in Madras High Court.

On Friday, July 14, 2017, the verdict was passed in favour of the CBSE students.

Meeting the reporters in the premises of the headquarters, Health Minister C Vijayabaskar said, “We stand firm in the decision to reserve 85% MBBS and BDS seats in undergraduate colleges for the state board students.”
