Jacto-Geo's attempt to stage protest outside the TN Secretariat foiled

The members of Joint Action Committee of Teachers Organization and Government Employees Organizations (Jacto-Geo), who staged a protest demanding the payment of arrears under the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and implementation of the old pension scheme, were arrested by the police. 25,000 members of the organization (according to police estimates) came together to march towards the Secretariat, but the police attempted to stop the protest and arrested around 1,200 members, who were taken to Rajarathinam Stadium and various marriage halls in the city.
