Formation of the Cauvery management board is undergoing final phase of investigation. According to Counsel Fali Nariman, "The Cauvery panel has passed an order that Karnataka should give 192 TMC of water to Tamil Nadu in order to serve the 24.71 lakh hectares of agricultural lands, which has greatly affected Karnataka." Farmers and organisations from Karnataka are staging an opposition after the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Many petitions such as the appeal of state governments against the verdict of Cauvery panel and the petition requesting the formation of Cauvery Management are undergoing the final phase of investigation from July 11.

The Bench would comprise Justices Dipak Misra, Amitava Roy and A.M. Khanwilkar.
Senior Advocate and Karnataka Counsel Fali Nariman told the court, “The Cauvery panel has passed an order that Karnataka should give 192 TMC of water to Tamil Nadu in order to serve the 24.71 lakh hectares of agricultural lands. It has greatly affected Karnataka. This verdict is against the agreements made in the year 1892 and 1924. Karnataka will not accept this. These legal agreements on water sharing have always caused loss to Karnataka. We are not sure on what basis the Cauvery Panel has given this verdict because Tamil Nadu can claim only 132 TMC of water. The verdict should be reconsidered.”
Justice Dipak Misra said,“From Himalayas to Kanyakumari, India has been considered as one nation. So there should not be any dispute in sharing the water. Even if we conclude that the water has not been shared accurately we would not send the petition back to the Cauvery panel to reconsider it. With the documents and statistical data produced by the state governments, we will alone decide how much water should be shared.”
Meanwhile, the Cauvery water has been released to Tamil Nadu as per the verdict of Cauvery Panel. Some of Karnataka farmers and organizations are protesting against this. A ban on protest is passed in Mandya and Mysore as the case is under investigation in the Supreme Court. Even then the farmers are staging protest in the Mattur lake for the last 6 days. Yesterday they protested by lying inside a pit.
