Attention Chennaites Now new traffic plan to decongest OMR

The ever-lasting congestion at the busy Rajiv Gandhi Salai, also known as Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), may finally have a solution, especially between the stretch from Tidel Park and SRP Tools signal junctions. The Chennai traffic police is now running a trial plan in the area to check if the traffic can be eased a bit. Effective Friday, the service road in front of Tidal Park, which is a two-way up till Madhya Kailash, has been converted into a one-way.

Therefore, traffic coming from Tidel Park, Elnet and Ramanujam IT Park will have to use the one-way till Madhya Kailash and then take a U-turn from there. However, vehicles coming from Tidal Park and intending to go to CSIR Road will have to take a U-turn at the SRP Tool Signal and then move onto Ascendas and other destinations on the CSIR Road.

Vehicles coming from the CSIR Road, heading to SRP Tools, will have to take a U-Turn at the Tidal Park signal since the right turn at Ascendas signal has been closed. Vehicles coming from the CSIR Road and OMR from SRP Tools and heading toward Madhya Kailash Junction can take a left turn toward the service road, situated between Ascendas junction and Tidel Park junction. Commuters can then join the OMR main carriage near Ramanujam IT Park.
