Arvind Kejriwal to meet Kamal Haasan today
- Kejriwal, most likely, landed in Tamil Nadu at 11:30 am.
- He is said to have called Rajinikanth too, but will be meeting Haasan only.
- The meeting could be a make or break situation for AAP.
FollowDelhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is likely to meet Kamaal Haasan today in order to exchange his views on Tamil Nadu politics. Speaking to the Indian Express, a source said, "Arvind Kejriwal will be travelling to Chennai Thursday to meet Kamal Haasan, while the exact agenda of the meeting can’t be revealed, it will be political in nature."
The meeting will take place in light of the fact that Haasan is planning his debut in Tamil Nadu politics. In fact, it is being said that he will launch his independent party by the end of this month with an eye on the local body elections expected in the month of November.
The AAP leader further added, "Right now, the political situation in the country is at a critical juncture. The BJP government at the Centre has a clear agenda of breaking or bullying state governments and Opposition parties….”
Haasan's entry into politics was predictable from the way he was taking on the functioning of the AIADMK factions and the rise of corruption in the state. The AAP source, further said, "Haasan has made it very clear that his stance is against the communal forces operating within the country. Ahead of the local body elections in Tamil Nadu, the two (Kejriwal and Haasan) are likely to have an exchange of notes over the problems faced within the country and how best to tackle them.”
This meeting is also an attempt by Kejriwal to build up on his presence in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
