Kollywood: 2.0 director Shankar expresses shock over GST
- A government order was passed declaring that in addition to GST, the state would retain 30% entertainment tax which will be collected by local bodies

Meanwhile, a government order was passed declaring that in addition to GST, the state would retain 30% entertainment tax and it was also stated that the tax would be collected by the local bodies. It has created a shock wave among the people in the film industry.
Even the 18% rate levied would mean 48% on a single ticket.
With regards to this, the director Shankar who is known for making big-budget movies has tweeted "48-58%...too much tax...save Tamil cinema."
