A total of 31 Bihar MLAs are likely to take oath as ministers, days after Nitish Kumar was sworn-in as the chief minister with Tejashwi Yadav as his deputy. As many as 30 members from Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) and Tejashwi Yadav-led RJD will be inducted into the Bihar Cabinet.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will expand his Cabinet on Tuesday, nearly a week after he ditched the BJP-led alliance and formed “Mahagathbandhan” government with the support of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress. The oath taking ceremony of new ministers will take place at 11:30 am in Raj Bhavan.

Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav said Lalu Yadav is a modern man. He said there is a certain perception about him that isn't true. Elaborating on why Rachel's name was changed to Rajshri, he said it was done as it would be easier to pronounce for the people of Bihar.

Adding that he was not scared of the CBI and ED even during the first tenure as deputy CM, Yadav said that he has matured as a politician since his first stint as deputy CM in 2015-17.

Kumar ended his alliance with the BJP on Tuesday and revived the 2015 alliance with Lalu Yadav's RJD. Nitish Kumar, who dumped the BJP-led NDA on Tuesday, took oath as the CM for the eighth time. Along with him, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav took oath as Deputy CM for the second time.JD(U) joined hands with the 'Mahagathbandhan' comprising 7 political parties and staked claim to form a government with the support of over 164 MLAs.

Nitish Kumar called off the alliance between the JD(U) and BJP in Bihar and resigned as the state's chief minister on Tuesday. Nitish Kumar met Tejashwi Yadav after resigning as CM and the duo is expected to meet the Governor to stake claim to the government.

As per the schedule released by the RJD at its state headquarters here, elections for units at booth, panchayat, block and district levels will start from August 16 and conclude by September 6.
