India clinched three gold medals at the Asian Athletics Championships on Thursday, led by Jyothi Yarraji, Avinash Sable, and the women's 4x400m relay team, boosting their overall medal tally to 14.

India won 8 medals, including gold in the 4x400m mixed relay, with strong performances across track and field on day two of the 26th Asian Athletics Championship.

Gulveer Singh set a new Asian indoor 5000m record, qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, and improved his national 5000m outdoor record, while USA's Cole Hocker won gold.

Dr. Adille Sumariwalla will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the India Sports Awards 2024 for his contributions to the sports world. The ceremony will be held in Delhi on November 30th.

TC Yohannan etched his name in history books by becoming the first Asian to cross the 8-meter mark in long jump at the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran. His leap of 8.07 meters not only secured him the gold medal but also shattered both the Asian and Asian Games records.

Duplantis crossed the finish line in 10.37 seconds, while Warholm completed the race in 10.47s. The idea of the race came after some friendly banter between the two world record holders in training last year, and the sprint captured the imagination of athletics fans world wide.

Neeraj Chopra is currently sitting at the fourth spot in the Diamond League standings, having collected seven points from one event, while Czechia's Jakub Vadlejch (14 points) is occupying the top spot. Anderson Peters (13 points) is placed second in the table, and Julian Weber of Germany, who finished sixth in Paris, is third (8 points).

Arshad Nadeem won a historic gold medal for Pakistan at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 27-year-old ended his nation's 32-year long wait for an Olympic medal by launching the javelin to a distance of 92.97m, the new Olympic record, at Stade de France.

Neeraj is currently occupying fourth spot in the Diamond League standings with seven points to his name, seven adrift of Czechia's Jakub Vadlejch, who is sitting at the summit. The final will be held in Brussels on September 1, 2024.

Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra became the fifth two-time Olympic medalist from India after adding a silver to his Tokyo 2020 gold. The 26-year-old is the third athlete besides Sushil Kumar and and PV Sindhu to win medals at two separate Summer Games.
