The second season of Tamil Nadu Premiere League (TNPL) will kick start from Saturday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Unlike last season which had quarter finals, semi-finals and finals, this season will follow the play-off format borrowed from Indian Premiere League (IPL).

There will be eight teams that will be fighting for the title - TUTI Patriots, Chepauk Super Gillies, Lyca Kovai Kings, Madurai Super Kings, VB Thiruvallur Veterans, Karaikudi Kaalai, Ruby Trichy Warriors, and Dindigul Dragons.
Out of these eight teams, we have selected three teams that are the favourites to win the title:
TUTI Patriots: The first season was all about this dominating side which won the title. This year too, they will be aiming at defending the title. Adding to their advantage, the skipper Dinesh Karthik who is in great form will pour all his experience on youngsters like Aswin Crist. Apart from DK, the team has players like L Balaji, Washington Sundar, and Abhinav Mukund, who have been part of IPL extravaganza.
Chepauk Super Gillies: Rajagopal Satish’s team was the runner up in the first season. By default, they will be the favourites for this season who will be looking forward to reaching the finals again and grab the title. Even though they do not have star players like in other teams, the team has dedicated youngsters who have already started to sweat out.
Dindigul Dragons: N Jagadeesan and T Natarajan have shown their mettle in the first season. Jagadeeshan was a top run scorer with 397 runs, and Natarajan had got ten wickets.
But unfortunately, despite the individual performances, the team did not make it to finals, and this time the Dragons will be aiming at contributing with team-effort.
