Fans of Lionel Messi might have some exciting news, as Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is close to joining French giant Paris Saint-Germain. He left Barcelona last week after 21 years due to the financial structure change for La Liga clubs.

Meanwhile, French publication L'Equipe reported on Tuesday that the Argentine has agreed to a move to the French capital. The report also adds that he will arrive in Paris on Tuesday to finalise the deal, as he was spotted at Barcelona airport later, with his destination unknown.

PSG already has a fierce attack, consisting of Messi's former Barca teammate Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. In the meantime, Mesi's arrival could bolster its chances of winning the UEFA Champions League, a missing trophy from its cabinet.

Messi would also become PSG's third free transfer this season after roping in Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, following the latter's expiry of his contract with Los Blancos last season. Also, Georginio Wijnaldum joined the French giant for free from Liverpool.

However, Messi's arrival has again stirred the war of the Financial Fair Play, as Messi is one of the most expensive players in the world, who pocketed around €555 million in his last contract with Barca. The FFP rule was introduced in 2009 to disallow clubs from paying an excess of their revenue to the players.
