four records harmanpreet broke yesterday

The 28-year-old batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur eased India to the finals of Women’s World Cup by her blistering knock against Australia in the second semi-final. Kaur scored 171 runs out of just 115 balls.

With a strike rate of 148.7, Kaur broke few records on Thursday while hammering Australian bowlers. Here are the number of records that she broke:

1. Kaur’s innings included 20 fours and seven sixes. On Thursday she became the fifth highest run scorer in an innings in women’s cricket history. The highest run in an innings is currently lead by Australia’s Belinda Clark who had scored 229 unbeaten runs against Denmark in 1997.

2. The record of highest run getter by any Indian in a World Cup match was also broken by Kaur yesterday. This record includes both men’s cricket and women’s cricket.

3. Kaur also stood as a second highest run scorer by a batswomen in and ODI match against Australia. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Atapattu leads the record with 178 runs which was scored in the ongoing World Cup on 29, June 2017.

4. Besides these, Kaur also seems to have broken a weird record. Scoring her century out of just 90 balls Kaur did not even celebrate her second ton in the World Cup.

In a dramatic situation, Kaur who was batting at 98* was eager to steal two runs. Though it was not an attempt to score her century in a hurry, Kaur wanted to keep a strike and continue thrashing Australian bowler in the next over.

But her partner Deepti Sharma responded late for the second run. At the end both the batswomen had to dive to save themselves.

After completing two runs, Kaur went on scolding Sharma for not responding quickly. However, she celebrated her 150 runs in the later part of the innings.
