After winning his eighth title, the 35-year-old said that he would continue playing until he turns forty. Federer who was born on August 8, 1981, will be celebrating his 36th birthday very soon.

He said that if everything goes well and if his health supports him, he will play tennis until he turns forty.

Winning his first Wimbledon title at 2003, Federer’s career was expected to wither away after his ankle injury last year. He did not participate in US Open and also stayed away from Rio Olympics due to the injury.

The injury also resulted in down fall of his spot in world rank to seventeen, which happened after seventeen years. Federer was ranked seventeen in 2000 after which he never turned back.

Speaking to AFP, Federer, remembered his experience after his win against Pete Sampras at Wimbledon quarter final in 2002.

He said that he never dreamt of reaching this great height after beating Sampras in Wimbledon 2002. He also opined that he never thought of winning a Wimbledon except reaching the finals.

After his win in Wimbledon 2017, Federer also credited his parents and coach’s effort for training him since when he was three-years-old.
