Portuguese football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly a modern-day great, as he continues to compete with fellow great Lionel Messi of Argentina. However, Ronaldo’s legacy seems to be taking a toll at his current club, Juventus.

Ronaldo, so far, has had an average tenure at the club across a couple of seasons, having won four domestic titles. However, he has failed to lead the side to the European glory, while FC Porto knocked it out in the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League pre-quarters.

As a result, rumours are high that Ronaldo could be on his way out of the club soon. Simultaneously, many reports link him to a return to Real Madrid, which would lead to a reunion with club manager Zinedine Zidane, under whom he won some prestigious titles.

Meanwhile, according to famous Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the decision on Ronaldo’s future at Turin would only be taken following the end of the season and not now. “At the end of the season, Ronaldo and Juventus will meet with the agent Jorge Mendes to decide about the future of the player...” he told in an interview with CBS Sports’ Qué Golazo Podcast.

“It makes me laugh. I never imagined Ronaldo could be put into question. I grew up in a small town and I heard people discussing Platini, Rivera, Baggio, top players inside bars. Ronaldo won five Ballon d’Ors, I don’t know how many Champions League. He won so many trophies and scored so many goals at Juventus. It’s a privilege to have him here; we are happy to have him here. He surely represents the future of Juventus,” Juventus chief Fabio Paratici had previously said, reports Football Italia.

Notably, Juventus is also struggling in the Serie-A for the season, as it is placed third in the table and is ten points behind league leader Inter Milan. Nonetheless, Ronaldo remains the top scorer in the tournament this season for now, while provided he wins the Golden Boot at the season-end, it would be his first in Italy.
