Ola Taxi sharing apps prove too costly for BMTC

According to Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), it has witnessed a steep fall in the number of passengers, especially on routes such as Silk board, Hebbal, Kengeri, Electronic City, Kadugodi, Hosur Road, White Field, KR puram and International airport.

BMTC sources claim that more and more number of commuters are opting for “share” services provided by Ola and Uber as the costs tend to be much cheaper.

 

Worried about its losses, Dr Ekroop Caur, MD of BMTC said that this service is damaging the profit of BMTC and threatened to take action against the cab sharing services.

 

“We have instructed the officers to submit a report in this regard. Severe action will be taken against the companies that are providing the services unlawfully. We have also instructed the RTO to take action against those who don’t have license for such service.”
