Misappropriation of funds: ADGP Sreelekha to face Vigilance probe

One of the top female police officers in Kerala, ADGP Intelligence R Sreelekha IPS, will face a vigilance probe against her as recommended by the former Transport Commissioner Tomin Thachankary. According to reports, Kerala Transport Minister AK Saseendran has given his nod for the investigation.

In the report submitted after a departmental inquiry, Thachankary has stated that while serving as Transport Commissioner Sreelekha gave permission to air condition the Palakkad Road Transport Office without following guidelines. 

The rest of the allegations against the officer is related to unfair transfers of motor vehicle inspectors in the department, use of official vehicle and mobile phone during her leave tenure, purchase of 14 vehicles flouting rules and for spending lakhs from road safety fund to repair a private road leading to her residence.

The report also pointed out that while Sreelekha went on leave to pursue higher studies in London, the officer toured Austria, Germany, France, Bahrain and Dubai without informing the government. 

Incidentally, earlier this year ADGP Sreelekha had blamed another ADGP-rank officer of harassing her for the past 29 years in her Facebook post. The officer was hinting at ADGP Tomin J Thachankery has been haunting her since the IPS training period in 1987.
