Meet the family who buries their dead inside house
- A family in Koppal district buries the dead inside their house.
- There are 13 tombs in the house.
It is a general practice to cremate the dead people in a burial ground. But here is a family who buries inside their house.
The family claims that it has been a tradition that they have been following from centuries. In this house, any family member who passes away is buried inside the house, and for the next one year, prayers are offered for the deceased.
The family also worships their forefathers, who are buried inside the tomb, every day without fail.
Anyone who visits this house will find tombs everywhere – in the drawing room, in the bed room, in the sit out and everywhere.
This scene can be found in the house of Rudramuni Shastri Hiremath of Mandalageri village, Yalaburga Taluk, Koppal district.
Currently, there are about 13 tombs inside their house and every tomb is offered pooja and prayers every day.
“This is a principle of our family. We are following this since centuries. We live in this house without any worries. Some people express their bewilderment while many appreciate our tradition” - Rudramuni Shastri Hiremath.
